Staff Application

This was the application for becoming a staff member at different points in the site’s history:

2004

If you are unsure about whether you want to work for Gamequbed or not, or you are just interested to see why you should work for us, then you’ve come to the right place! In this article you’ll see what kind of people we are looking for, why we would be a great site to work for, and what you will gain out of your experience here.

Gamequbed is all about offering as much Nintendo information as possible, with a great deal of accuracy, timing, and effectiveness, I feel that if a site such as Gamequbed.com is to succeed, we need to have a well-meshed staff who are all operating on the same page, and who are all able to contribute not only when called upon, but also when they feel it is necessary to do so. This translates into good work ethic.

But even more than having someone with great work ethic, we need people who are passionate about the games they play, and who are eager to express their views about them to the world. What is the point in having a website that does not provide such a voice to its readers?

At Gamequbed we need certain people who can deliver this type of response; people who can create their own opinions and express them with ease and good language skills. But we also need certain people who are willing to put in the time and effort to keep the site alive, to deliver those crucial news updates or that hard-hitting review which ensures that the site never gets boring for our visitors.

At Gamequbed we will give you that chance to express yourself. We are not a site which enforces strict deadlines, nor do we place any exceeding demands on you (there will of course be basic guidelines to follow). All we ask of you is that you give it your best and are passionate about your work; optimism is contagious, and once everyone has caught it, it’s hard to get rid of. We want quality over quantity: one stellar review is worth more than one average review.

We are powered by a strong user community, and although our community center was recently destroyed by our malignant server, we are working hard on putting it back together. You’ll have a chance to communicate directly with our visitors. If you are an aspiring staffer who already has a strong presence in the community, then it works out even better for you.

Gamequbed has a long and colorful history, dating back unofficially to 1998 when Gamequbed was NGN Online, officially to 2000 when we moved to gamequbed.com. We’ve been featured in the reputable gaming magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly, and many of our past staffers have moved on and now have their own websites and have used Gamequbed as a stepping ground for better opportunities.

Although there were some staffers at Gamequbed who I would rather forget than remember, everyone here is friendly and will treat you with the same respect that you give to them. Everyone is here for a few basic reasons: to have fun, to learn more about games, to learn more about the Internet, and to help Gamequbed get better every day.

And finally, it is your choice to work here. If you decide to work here, there will be some basic guidelines that you must fulfill in order to continue working at Gamequbed. If you decide that maybe Gamequbed isn’t the right place for you, or that you need to pursue other interests, that is great, but please let me know in advance. If you begin a very long leave of absence from the net, or from Gamequbed, it puts me in a very awkward position, especially if you have made significant contributions.

Thanks for reading, and if you are interested, then give me a shout at webmaster@gamequbed.com with AOL contact information (my AOL name is DarkAvion), and we will discuss things further there. By Thomas, webmaster and Director of Gamequbed.

2003
