Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku Review
Although there have been a great deal of DragonBall games made for various systems over the years, none of them have ever made it to Australia before, and most of them didn’t even get an English conversion.
The reason for the lack of early DragonBall games was simple, no one outisde of Japan had even heard the words Dragon…Ball, and therefore the games would not sell. But since the DragonBall series has been converted to English and show on western television, fans have been crying out for quality DragonBall games, and now their wish is coming true with the release of this game, DragonBall Z:The Legacy of Goku (only for GameBoy Advanced).
Those who are familar with the DragonBall/DragonBall Z or DragonBall-GT crew will recognise the plot instantly or in the next few minutes, because the game really is just like the tv show of DragonBall Z’s Saiyan Saga. During the game you will be following one major story line, but will also have numerous side quests to complete on the way. You will also be able to interact with other DragonBall characters such as Krillen, Chi-Chi, and Bulma, who will give you advice or ask you to do something for them.
The game plays like a Zelda GameBoy game, but features RPG elements such as gaining experience points and levelling up. Each enemy you defeat will give you more experience, and as Goku gets stronger he can master new attacks and improve the ones he already knows. Of course, all of Goku’s signature moves will be there such as the Kame Hame Ha, the Solar Flare along with the ability to fly. In the real time battles you will also be able to use both a punch and execute your Ki attacks, which will grow in number as you level up.
Although it is based heavily on the cartoon, even people who have never seen the show before will be able to understand the story, and should thoroughly enjoy the game. As for hardcore fans, this is the game you have been waiting for.
