Turok: Evolution Preview
Oh joy, another Turok installment, not to sound sarcastic or anything….hehe. Turok is set to appear on all next-gen consoles, and Acclaim will once again reign supreme in the dinosaur infested world category. If you’ve played the first couple of games, you noticed horrendous fog, enemies that took hours to attack you, and lacking gameplay. Fortunately, thanks to GameCube, all this will become mere things of the past as Acclaim expands their flagship title.
You know the role. An Indian is sent to a forest to fight dinosaurs, except that this time around, Acclaim is aiming for a more realistic approach, which means no robotic mutated carnivores who have mechanical teeth and bodies half covered in metal. Everything that had plagued the original has been fixed, so now the game puts you IN the environment and lets you interact more with your surroundings. There are a whole new set of weapons available, but your trusty machine gun, knife, and bow and arrow making appearances. Turok inventor Dave Dienstbier had this to say about the new Turok.
“Turok Evolution is an exciting blend of sophisticated technological advancement and raw, primal ferocity. We have placed a huge emphasis on the return of the Dinosaur Hunter, and fans of the series will see these efforts come to life as they explore lush environments teeming with prehistoric life all while taking part in an epic story in the war-torn Lost Lands,” said Dienstbier. “In terms of game play, visuals, story line and character development, Turok Evolution represents a dedication on behalf of the entire development team that we are certain Turok fans and gamers everywhere will love.”
Currently, there is no release date set for Turok: Seeds of Evolution, but hopefully it can be launched between 2001-2002.
