Saffire Preview
Saffire started out as an N64 game, but then turned into a Gamecube and PS2 port. Thankfully, the awesome power of both systems respectively will make for a great gaming experience when you play Saffire.
The story of Saffire is a rather intriguing one. Zeus saw the havoc that his fellow Gods were creating on the earth, so he decided to seal off all of his enemies in the underworld. Centuries later, a modern group of archeologists uncover the hidden demons and release all the evil into the world. Zeus then sends five teenage Gods to modern earth to restore peace and to save mankind.
The cast includes Priscilla, the daughter of Zeus, and the leader of the group. She can conjure up huge lightning bolts to fry her enemies. Odysseus, sun of Apollo, has mastered heat and light, which he greatly uses to his advantage. Melanie is the most beautiful of the group, and many people can’t resist her charm and good looks. Damien can create his own weapons out of his head and use them against his enemies. He also has a sleeping drug that give his enemies and nappy-nappy. The last member, Lyssa, has the ability to run super fast and predict the future.
Saffire features huge 3D worlds and a smooth constant framerate. The expansive levels are nothing short of astounding, and there is much to see and to do. You are constantly faced with puzzles and challenges that you must overcome. The game also features highly intelligent AI, so it’s always a challenge. Some might be whining that it should be 4 player, but you have the opportunity to play a co-operative mode.
Saffire, the company, is definitely on the right track with Saffire, and I can’t wait until it hits the Gamecube and PS2 sometime in 2001.
