Grand Theft Auto 3 (GBA) Preview

By now, about 95% of PS2 owners have this game. And for the other 5%, lets just say they’re missing out on something big. Yes, I am aware of this being a Nintendo website. I’m talking about Grand Theft Auto 3 for the Game Boy Advance.

Around E3, a new publisher by the name of Destination Software gained the rights to Smuggler’s Run, Midnight Club, Snood, and Grand Theft Auto 3. They bring GTA 3 to the GBA along with Rebellion, known for the GBC’s Mission Impossible.

No media has been released at all for this game. It’s hard to imagine seeing the polygon buildings from the PC version, but hopefully it’ll pull through. With the power of the Game Boy Advance, anything seems possible. Other PS2 conversions have done fairly well on the GBA. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro just to name a couple. They weren’t blockbuster hits, but they were pretty darn good. Grand Theft Auto 3 Box Art It has officially been announced that the game carries an “M” rating on the GBA. That means we’ll probably be seeing lots of gore, lots of violence, and a little bit of everything else. Is that a good thing? Well, it will probably draw in an older audience to the GBA, and chip a little bit off Nintendo’s “kiddy” image.

However, it’s a shame we wont be seeing GTA 3 for the GameCube anytime soon. It would help out the system dramatically, especially with Nintendo’s recent loss of Rare. This is definitely a step forward for Nintendo, and we’ll see what this great title will bring us!
