Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 Preview

Dave Mirra is the sequel to the successful Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, and by the looks of it, it could be to BMXing what Tony Hawk is to skateboarding.

DMFB is set to deliver gamers everything they could want in a BMX game. There are huge, ultra expansive levels, an all new trick system, more playable real riders, a level editor, and an all new soundtrack, which includes Godsmack, The Cult, and Methods of Mayhem, all the more to blast the game to annoy your parents!

Basically, the levels are incredible. Some might go as far as to say that the levels are four times the size of Tony Hawk. There are endless amounts of variety througout them, so you definately won’t be bored. Locations include an industrial train yard, Woodward Camp, a city’s commercial district, a water park, a highway intersection, an airport parking garage, a tricked-out swamp, and Devil’s Peak, which is a huge dirt canyon filled with twists, turns and jumps.

The new trick system allows for a complex variety of new freestyle moves, such as one-footed manuals. There are also 1,500 trick combinations, which is sure to please even the most diehard fans. This includes wallrides, manuals - the whole shabang. Take a look at the images on the right to get a visual representation…telling you about it just won’t do justice!

Of course, there are few minor hiccups, such as the annoying camera. Hopefully, Z Axis can fix all this. The Gamecube port is meant to be an upgrade from the PS2 version, but you can expect bigger levels, more tricks, and improved graphics over its PS2 counterpart. This is sure to impress even the hardcorest of fans, and you can bet your scars on your knees and hands from all those stunts that this game will leave a dent on the Gamecube when it launches November 18.

Final Score: 7
