Nintendo Going Down...Under
NinGC reports that the Gamecube, to put it mildly, isn’t doing too well in Australia. In fact, to be brutally honest, it is doing horrible. Over the course of the summer, Nintendo’s Gamecube stake in Australia’s game market dropped an astonishing 51% to a mere 2.8%. The GBA fared slightly better, dropping 41% to 6.1%.
After talking to a guy I know down there, he commented on how hard it was to find a GC game there. However, I personally feel that Nintendo simply doesn’t care about the Australian market, or have gave up trying to gain a decent foothold. That, plus the fact that XBox sales there are somewhat decent (for a change) means that Australian Gamecube fans will be facing some tough times ahead.
