Hon Hai and Big N
In a report issued on Friday by the Commercial Times of Taiwan, it was revealed that Hon Hai Precision Industry has been awarded a manufacturing contract from Nintendo for production of GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The first order is valued at NT$12 billion, as the first line of mass production is slated to begin in October, and is expected to hit NT$25 billion by 2003. Upon receiving the contract, Hon Hai became the first company to be part of the manufacturing of all three consoles; this comes on the heels of their PlayStation 2 contracts, and the contracts Cheng Uei Precision Industry, a subsidiary, has with Xbox.
This report is weird because Rare had just been dropped? So has Nintendo made a tactical move?? Discuss this in the forums [go].
