GCN outsells PS2

That’s right. All of us Nintendo fans knows this only happens very rarely, and when it does we jump ont he occasion to celebrate.

In the week ending August 31st the Nintendo GameCube outsold the Sony PlayStation 2 by 600 units. I know, a small margin, but a margin nonetheless.

As far as the numbers go, Bloomberg reports that the GameCube sold 35,900 while the PS2 sold 35,300 last week in Japan. The only reason for this being is due to the release of long awaited GameCube RPG’s like Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (both set for release in the US next year).

The rest of the sales data went as follows: GBA SP with 42,000 units sold, the original GBA with 12,000 units sold, the original PlayStation with 960 units sold, and of course the Xbox in last with an abysmal 650 units sold (almost 35,000 less sold than the GameCube).
