Australian Console Sales Figures
With the Holiday Season approaching faster than ever before this year, in part thanks to last years lackluster sales and the Jewish holiday of Channukah taking place earlier than normal, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are getting ready worldwide, to see who can dominate the console market.
The PS2 is currently in 1st place in Australia, followed closely by Microsoft’s Xbox console. Nintendo, however, is dead last, with its sales way below the competition, according to the latest sales figures for last week, which are below.
- PlayStation 2: 10,956 (Total: 555,163)
- Xbox: 9,972 (Total: 126,111)
- GameCube: 1061 (Total: 46,145)
One reason for the sucess of the Xbox is that like in North America, Microsoft has a special Xbox holiday deal in Australia, helping to boost sales.
