GameCube Developers
Note: Original publication date is missing
Rare
Rare is one, if not the most important and best second party developer in the world. Gamecube’s technology will continue to inspire this company to take gaming to the next level. This makes Rare one of the most important developers to Nintendo.
Left Field
Second party developer Left Field Productions is a very capable company, with the ability to take up the slack of the lagging sports titles that have been apparent in Nintendo’s legacy. If we see games like Excitebike 64 coming to Gamecube, rest assured that Gamecube will deliver good sports titles in the end.
Retrostudios
The torch has been passed down to Retro Studios, who carry the immense responsibility of creating Metriod Man 4. Retro studios has five games planned for Gamecube: a FPS, an RPG, a truck racer, a football game and …Metriod.
NST (Nintendo Software Technology Corporation)
NST also has a tremendous responsibilty. They have been entrusted with the creation of Wave Race 2. They have received the old Wave Race code, and are busy updating and modifying it! NST is also working on one more yet-to-be announced Gamecube title.
EAD
This is the heart of the Nintendo empire: Nintendo itself! This company is responsible for creating some of the best games ever to grace consoles. They’ve done it all, from Yoshi to Mario to Zelda. We can only wait until E3 2001, when they will show off what they have cooking.
Acclaim Entertainment
Acclaim is an old hand at video gaming, but they have been supporting Nintendo for a long time. Creators of such games as the Bust-a-Move series, Turok, and a handful of others proves that Acclaim has what it takes to continue their excellent development on Gamecube.
Titus Software
Titus has a reputation. They are known as having created one of the worst titles to ever grace any system, and the worst title on the N64. Yep, Superman 64. Thankfully, they will not be heading up the next one to hit Gamecube. Let’s hope that Titus can clean up their act.
3DO
Although 3DO is developing for multi-platform systems, expect them to make regular appearances on Gamecube. I only wish they would spice up their Army Men series.
Silicon Knights
These guys are in the process of creating Too Human for Gamecube, a title that was originally set for PS. SK has since signed on as an official second-party developer for Nintendo, and I can’t wait to see how they plan to make use of the Nintendo Gamecube!
ND Cube
Although not much is known on NDCube, it was formed between Nintendo Co. Ltd. and Dentsu, Inc., a Japanese leader in advertising. They currently have projects planned for both Gamecube and GBA hardware.
THQ
THQ has created a variety of games, primarily the wrestling department. They plan to introduce a Rugrats game to Gamecube. Funny, how Nintendo wants to appeal to older gamers, yet a little kiddie title is released. Not to worry, though, as this announced title won’t stop the sports and adventure titles that we’re sure to see from them in the future.
Factor 5
Factor 5 is very important to Nintendo. Since the announcement of Gamecube, F5 has worked on Gamecube’s sound hardware. They currently have a Star Wars: Rogue Squadron sequel, and a 3rd person shooter going by the name of Thornado.
Infogrames
Recently Infogrames has been making headlines with the recent acquisitions of Hasbro Interactive and Hudson Soft. The creators of the Alone in the Dark series, the V Rally series and Duke Nukem. Expect them to carry on their vast video game knowledge and apply it to Gamecube development.
Capcom
Capcom is a very well-known game developer, creators of such series as Dino Crisis, Street Fighter, Resident Evil and Mega Man. Let’s hope they can carry on their knowledge and expertise to Gamecube.
Take2Interactive
Not much known right now, but said to be working on Gamecube titles.
Pacific Coast Power and Light
Believe it or not, PCP and Light actually have a Gamecube game in development. CMX 2002 will be hitting next-gen consoles, including Gamecube. This game promises to include some of your favorite racers and ultra-cool physics. This should be a real treat for hardcore motocross fans!
Platinum
UK developer Platinum has confirmed development for Gamecube, but they are also developing a ton of other games for other companies. Expect to hear more from them soon!
Konami
Konami actually plans to bring some of their mascots to Gamecube. Crash Bandicoot to be exact. Anyway, you can expect the usual from Konami, so I don’t have much to say on them!
Midway Games
The one thing I can is: no more Mortal Kombat. Seriously, this game died out a long time ago, and I really don’t want to see another MK game on Gamecube! Midway also has it’s sights set on developing for other systems, but at least they can provide Gamecube with good quality sports and fighting titles.
HAL Laboratories/Camelot
Anything having to do with Mario and Friends is HAL’s department. Creators of Super Smash Bros., they are currently working on Gamecube titles.
Camelot is also responsible for Mario and Friends, having created Mario Tennis and the Mario Party series. Hopefully, we can expect some Gamecube titles from them soon.
Marigul
A second party Nintendo developer, Marigul has made such products as the now cancelled for good Earthbound 64. They are currently hustling with GBA and Gamecube software
Intelligent Systems
Believe it or not, this was actually the first department to develop video games for Nintendo, although they are known as R&D1. They were big in the Famicom days, but now they are making headlines with their development for Nintendo Gamecube and GB Advance software!
Saffire
Saffire is creating Mythos: Young Olympians for Gamecube!
Lucas Arts
Lucas Arts and Factor 5 are working hand in hand to deliver you Rogue Squadron Two. Lucas Arts, of course, provides the Star Wars license. More info can be found by clicking the link above!
Paradigm Studios
Not much word on the games, but they are rumored to have several Gamecube games in the works.
UBI Soft
UBI Soft has announced that it will support the Nintendo Gamecube.
Electronic Arts
EA (Canada) has already begun benchmark testing for the Nintendo Gamecube; which means that they will be creating software for it.
Activision
Has announced it will support the Nintendo Gamecube. Tony Hawk 3? Maybe.
Vis Entertainment
VE has just announced that they will support the Nintendo Gamecube. They are the creators of EarthWorm Jim.
ClockWorks
Right now there isn’t much on ClockWorks, but they are hinting at a possible Vanishing Point sequel for the Nintendo Gamecube.
