Two Prong Controller
The Nintendo Gamecube controller has an updated design, and it may look like a certain system’s design…
This is just one of two pictures that were taken from Comdex, the first US Game Consumer Show to offer North America a peek at the Gamecube. Looking in the bottom left-handed corner of the display case, you can see that the controller has an updated design, which is longer prongs for your hands; you can also see that it resembles the Nintendo 64 controller. We can only speculate why Nintendo came up with this controller in the first place. Just by looking at it, it certainly doesn’t resemble the smooth, sleek design showed at Spaceworld 2000 that “melted into your hands”. Also, the D-Pad is noticeably absent, and the Start button is in it’s place.
But don’t worry! This is actually a prototype controller shown month’s before the Spaceworld presentation; so this is just a left-over controller that was put on display. Then when Spaceworld rolled around, Nintendo “went back to the drawing boards” and included the D-Pad and the start button in the center, as well as the Z-trigger button.
I’m glad that Nintendo switched the design. It looks like everything is where it should be, and it also features the Z-trigger button. So as to avert any confusion, the first two pictures are PROTOTYPE controller mock-ups!
