Rant: Game Violence

There was a time back in the day when I, a striving gamer, could go to a store and buy a game despite its ratings, and no questions would be asked. Then something changed, and retarded parents who knew nothing of video games suddenly decided to blame EVERY bit of violence in the world on video games. [Editors Note: This was mostly due to congressional statements made by Senator Joseph Liebermann during the early 1990’s]. Store employees became the “Video game Nazis” of the industry and since then will not sell M rated games to people.

Well, I have some news for all who blame the world’s violence on games: violence has been around far before games and far before electricity. It was around back in the day of cave men that went around and savagely beat people with clubs! Back in the day I was around 9-11 years old I would go to stores and buy games such as Goldeneye, Turok, and many games rated M (I know Goldeneye is T).

But these days you go the new and improved “Video game Nazis”, and they won’t sell the game to a kid like me (who has NEVER been in a fight nor gotten in trouble for violence) an M rated game. In this case it was Conker’s Bad Fur day. I go into a software etc. to buy this game and the video game Nazi wouldn’t let me buy it. Hey, I will eventually get it so all this guy is doing is hurting himself and his business; if I don’t buy there, he won’t be making money. Video game stores rely on people to buy their games and if they are going to refuse sales how will they make money in the end? Thank you.
