Seeing into the Future
What’d I’d like to see in the Game Cube’s future…
Online
For one, I’d love to see more games with online-capabilities; everything from your first person shooter to your strategy game. It’d be nice to have an equivalent to SOCOM or Halo 2 wouldn’t it? Or go head to head with your army and your friends in a strategy game? Sweet. If Nintendo would try out the online sector, it’d pull Game Cube far, the reason I play PC games is because of the online fun! They could easily bring Zelda into a MMO [Adventure or RPG], or turn the Four Swords online! Dueling online in Metroid would be fun, or playing co-op through the net. The three Mario sports titles [Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, and Mario Golf] are the most probable and easiest to expand into the online market. So Nintendo, are you listening?
Voice Support
Typing to other player’s during heated wars or frantic showdowns is hard and often gives you a disadvantage, so Nintendo should offer Voice Support. Your hands are free to fight your enemy but you can still talk to your friends. XBox and PS2 have them, so why not us? The enhancement abilities of voice support are certainly enough to warrant a “risk” for the user to spend 10 or 15 or so bucks.
More Exclusives!
The Big ‘N’ needs to sign some more exclusive deals with companies like Capcom, here are some suggestions: An exclusive Medal of Honor would be excellent, maybe some more exclusive SEGA titles such as a new Panzer Dragoon.
Expand your library!
Nintendo has promised new titles so here are some new genres they could foray [venture/attempt] in…
First Person Shooter: Metroid was a FPA! A Nintendo-created FPS would rule; maybe that could team up with EA to create an exclusive MOH title?
Strategy: Maybe a Metroid RTS or Zelda RTS, or a totally new series!
Online: Anything online, reefer to the first paragraph.
And most of all, more new titles with that good old Nintendo genius!
If Nintendo can bring in some new more innovative titles, with a more-mature attitude, then I’m sure they could pull in loads of fans. Online game play is becoming a big factor in gaming, today, as we know it. The demographics of videogames have supposedly changed, although gaming has always been big amongst the supposed “nerd” group (although I hate the word) of colleges and high schools. People still think Nintendo is a kiddy company, despite having “mature” titles such as Resident Evil, Killer No. 7, P.N. 3, Metroid Prime and its up and coming sequel, etc.,. The new Zelda’s look was finally accepted by the majority of the public, after being criticized for its kiddy looks. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
All and all Nintendo could do a lot to make their system better; not to say it isn’t great, but their stance on online gaming is arrogant, bring in more titles, and they need to sign more exclusives.
