Nintendo's New Approach

Okay, I want to tell everyone something that has been annoying the heck out of me…Zelda, and it’s controversial showing at Spaceworld. In this day and age, especially in the gaming industry, companies are running around rampant with sequels and prequels to their first released title that was a smash success the first time around (i.e. Mortal Kombat). Nintendo is a highly unique and innovative company that strives to deliver fresh and new gameplay ideas. We’ve seen time and time again countless examples of this…Mario, Zelda, and Wave Race to name a few. The whole purpose of the creation of the Gamecube was so that Nintendo could explore these new ideas and not be hindered by technical specifications that stand in the way of making a great game. Nintendo is already exploring these ideas with the release of Zelda at Spaceworld, and perhaps many more titles to come.

Zelda at Spaceworld was an experiment from Nintendo to see how the public would react to these new ideas. Nintendo is certainly not nearsighted either. They value gamers’ opinions, and it has always been gamers that drive the competitive fuel in the heart of the gaming industry to top on and other with highly unique games. If the public doesn’t like this Zelda, there’s a good chance the game could be entirely redone, and maybe even delayed. Nintendo wants to satisfy the customer and deliver him or her something that the person will cherish. What saddens me is that some very respectful sites (no name calling) took this idea and made fun of it and said “look at this Zelda kiddy cartoon; this makes Nintendo look more kiddier than ever. I can’t believed they messed up the series” without even understanding Zelda’s true purpose at Spaceworld or what it was trying to prove. I was appalled as I read some articles downright bashing Zelda and Nintendo, and that some sites would go to such extremes to do that.

Nintendo is a highly unique and innovative company, and they strive to always achieve the best. It’s Nintendo’s brilliant team of engineers that set the path for everyone else to follow. It’s Nintendo’s innovative ideas that created games like Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and set the standard that other games have to measure up to, and it’s Nintendo’s ideas that make for an incredible gaming experience. Nintendo isn’t a company that upgrades graphics, keeps the same gameplay, and throws it out onto the market. They delve deeper and create something that touches the heart of every videogamer and inspires the heart of every Nintendo fan.
