Nintendo is Still Sensible
Nintendo really does know what they’re doing. Back in October when they announced the launching of the GameCube a few days after the XBOX, people thought Nintendo was mad. But Nintendo somehow knew that everything would come into place for them. SquareSoft developing for Nintendo: that will make a huge impact in 5 years. Think about the gamers in Japan. Since Japanese gamers are into RPGs more so than the rest of the other genres, the GameCube will do great now that Square is backing them. Sony may have a huge chunk of the market, but with Square making games for GameCube and GBA, Sony will have to keep on launching the hits.
A few years ago, I had one video game dream, and that dream was that Nintendo and Sega would merge on a project. Recently, my video game dream has come true, since Nintendo, Sega and Namco have formed the arcade board “Triforce” for the arcade market. Ever since Sega left the console business, wherever they ended up would definitely boost whatever company they helped. With Sega mainly on Nintendo’s side, Nintendo doesn’t really have to worry as much anymore.
Why is Sony on Nintendo’s mind? Well, it’s simply because they have a huge portion of the market and huge backing of 3rd party support. Nintendo can compete with this though. How will they compete? All of, or most of, Nintendo’s 1st party software is top-notch. What I mean is that these games are incredible. They have incredible 2nd party support as well backing them up, with companies such as Rare delivering the goods. These games are some of the greatest games you could play. 3rd party support is present for Nintendo, but there aren’t as many companies lined up for Nintendo as there are with the PlayStation2. The important thing is that Nintendo has lots of high quality games coming for the GameCube: port or no port.
